Are you feeling a little nervous about the thought of starting your driving lessons? Don’t worry if you are because you are certainly not alone. We understand that many of the nerves relating to starting your driving lessons are focused on the step into the unknown that all new drivers have to take.
However, the good news is that there are ways to ensure that the step into the unknown is not quite as big as it used to be and over the coming weeks and months we are going to break down many of the areas that you will face during your driving lessons.
Driving Lesson Insight
We hope that the insight that our blogs and videos will offer will help to offer reassurance about what is to come and help to calm those nerves a little.
Some of the topics that we will cover include the basics of driving including:
- Cockpit drill
- Gears – key learning points
- Steering & Ancillary controls
- Co-ordination
We’ll then move on to cover some of the more advanced aspects of driving, including:
- How to Enter a Roundabout
- Dealing with Mini Roundabouts
- Right Turn at Traffic Lights
- How To Use Junctions Correctly
As well as covering some of the more unusual aspects of driving that we are unlikely to be able to cover during our standard driving lessons including:
- What to do if you hear an Emergency Vehicle Siren
- How to drive safely in flood conditions
You can be certain that on your first lesson, we will take you to a spot with as little traffic as possible to get you started, where we can begin to teach you the essentials of becoming a safe and confident driver.
Mastering Basic Controls
Once you have mastered the basic controls of the vehicle, you will then be ideally positioned to learn how to move off, along with the other essential principles of driving such as how to use the accelerator and brakes.
All of our cars are fitted with dual controls, so you can rest assured that you will not crash the car as your instructor will be there to take control if necessary. Try not to worry too much and don’t forget to get some good rest the night before your first lesson, we can’t wait to get started!
